Vice President meets local students studying at Yunnan University

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, on Wednesday, met with local students studying at Yunnan University in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

VP Latheef met with the students on the sideline of an ongoing official visit to China to attend the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation’.

The discussions between the Vice President and the students revolved on the academic and overall experiences of local students studying at Yunnan University under the auspices of the Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship.

During the meeting, VP Latheef raised the issue of the US dollar withdrawal limit for overseas transactions and reassured the students of the government’s understanding of the complications associated with the limitation. The students also shared their collective experiences and grievances.

The Vice President assured the students that the current administration, under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, is actively addressing the issues concerning the US dollar withdrawal limit and expressed confidence in resolving the matter in the near future.

VP Latheef is scheduled to address the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation' organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

The forum is scheduled to take place from December 7th to December 8th, in Kunming, Yunnan Province in China.

The Vice President is accompanied by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed on this trip.
