Comissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed retires from service

Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has retired from the police service.

Mohamed Hameed retired from his post at a special ceremony held at Iskandhar Koshi today. The ceremony was graced by Home Minister Imran Abdulla. The President’s wife Fazna Ahmed, and police service officials as well as the Commissioner’s family members were present. 

The Commissioner of Police addressed the ceremony and thanked those who assisted him at various levels during his days as a police officer. He also assured that the police will always continue their efforts to make Maldives a safe and crime-free country.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister said that leading the police force and preparing people for the second generation is very hard, commendable and very committed work.

Imran also thanked Hameed for his hard work in opening the Police Academy or National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, determining the syllabus and system and structure and making it an independent institution of the Maldives Police Service. 

At the ceremony, Hameed was presented with a plaque of honour, a retirement card and a police flag.

In addition, a video presentation highlighting Hameed's services to the police service and an interview with employees and family members about his work were also shown.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih thanked him for his services following Hameed's retirement. In a post on X today, President Solih thanked Hameed for his attention to public safety and law.

“I especially note Hameed’s immense contributions towards making Police service a modern professional service in line with international best practice and democratic norms.,” he said.
