Fenaka: Sudden surge of new employees was to run the new offices

More than 700 employees were added to the administrative operations of Fenaka this year to commence services at the newly established stations, the company's Managing Director Ahmed Saeed Mohamed said.

The main topic of today’s press conference by Fenaka was the company’s response to the information released by the President-elect’s office about the corporation. 

Spokesperson of the Office of the President Elect, Firuzul Abdulla Khaleel had earlier said that serious errors had been noticed in the administrative and financial operations. of Fenaka.

Additionally, among the highlights of the year, Firzul described the increase of 747 employees since March as unusual. 

Responding to the comments, Saeed said that many employees had to be hired this year because the projects in the islands had been completed and the employees were needed to make the facilities operational. 

Saeed stressed it was not a political issue, but rather a service delivery issue.

"Therefore, the employees required by law to provide the service will be hired for the particular period. In no way are they hired for political purposes. It may be a coincidence,” Saeed said.

He said water, sewerage and electricity services are technical tasks that require many employees, adding that the employees were not recruited under any political influence. He assured that he had not committed such a thing.

At the same time, he emphasized that no corruption case has been proven against the company so far this term,  expressing confidence no such case will be proven again. 

Speaking further, Saeed said that the office of the President-elect is not a government office. It is an office established to provide accurate information to the President-elect, he said.
