The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) appointed Hussain Shaheed as the chief judge of High Court, and Mariyam Waheed as the chief judge of Civil Court.
The appointment was made on Monday.
The JSC had finalized the appointments last week.
Shaheed, who took his oath as a judge in 2014, previously served as a magistrate at the S. Feydhoo Court and the N. Holhudhoo Court, and as a judge at the Criminal Court.
He was appointed to the High Court on July 24, 2018.
He attained his Masters of Judicial Science and Sharia Policy, and Bachelors in Sharia and Law, from the Kulliyathul Dhiraasaathul Islaamiyya.
Meanwhile, Mariyam attained her Masters of Sharia from Villa College, and Bachelor of Law from the Maldives College of Higher Education.
She took her oath as a judge in 2013, and previously served as a magistrate at the K.Gaafaru Court, and the S.Hithadhoo Court.
She was appointed to the Civil Court on April 13, 2016.
The position of chief judge of the Civil Court had fallen vacant after Judge Ahmed Nimal died last month.
