Elections Commission (EC) has stated they will be placing five ballot boxes in five foreign countries for the runoff round of the presidential election.
Five ballot boxes were also placed in the same five countries for the first round of the presidential election which took place on September 9th; India’s Trivandrum, Sri Lanka’s Colombo, UAE’s Abu Dhabi, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur, and UK’s London.
The voting hours in the respective countries have also been announced by EC.
In this regard, the voting hours in the respective countries, in their local time, are as follows;
A total of 282,395 people were eligible to vote in the first round of the election. With 408 individuals set to turn 18 by September 30th, 282.803 people are eligible to vote in the runoff this Saturday.
The two candidates who will face off in the runoff are main ruling MDP’s Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the incumbent president, and opposition PPM-PNC coalition’s Dr. Mohamed Muizzu – as the two candidates who secured the greatest number of votes in the first round.
