President Solih pledges housing for Male’ residents of 20 years

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to provide housing to all individuals who have lived in Male’ City for 20 years.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Galolhu district of Male’ City on Tuesday night – President Solih said that Male’ comprised of not only natives of the city, but individuals who have lived in the city for years. He stressed that such individuals faced difficulties in getting housing from their native islands.

The president, therewith, announced his intention to introduce a special housing scheme for such individuals.

“Flat and land will be provided for all individuals who have been listed on the Dhafthar for over 20 years and all individuals who prove they have been living in Male’ for over 20 years,” he said.

President Solih, citing the policies pertaining to the new housing scheme had been decided within the past two to three days, said the next step was the official announcement of the scheme.

The current administration, under a housing scheme dedicated to Male’ natives, is already reclaiming Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufaru to issue land.
