State Minister for Planning Akram Kamaluddin told Sun that marking the boundaries of land plots in Hulhumale’ and its subsequent handover to recipients was ongoing at a fast pace. He added that the work was being undertaken with the mindset to complete the process as soon as possible.
1,351 land plots will be issued from Hulhumale’ under the ‘Binveriya’ scheme. Akram said marking boundaries of land plots in Gulhifalhu and handing over the land along with the registries will commence within the next couple of days.
Updating on the progress of the reclamation of Giraavarufalhu, Akram said the project was also proceeding at a fast pace, whereas the reclamation is expected to be completed very soon.
The government is also preparing to reclaim Hulhumale’ lagoon to issue land plots for recipients under the ‘Binveriya’ scheme.
Urbanco awarded the project to Capital Marine and Civil Construction Private Limited (CMCC) on August 21st. However, the reclamation will only commence after conducting an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA).
700 land plots will be issued from the newly reclaimed area.
Akram said land plots and registries will be handed over to all recipients of land before the fifth of November, as stated by the president.
“That means and land that needs to be reclaimed will be completed by the end of October,” he added.
The Planning Ministry published the permanent list of 5,000 recipients of the ‘Binveriya’ scheme earlier this month.
While the tentative list lists 19,858 eligible applicants, the permanent list lists 19,865 eligible applicants.
