Maldivian arrested from India for sexually harassing cabin crew on plane

A Maldivian man who traveled to India’s Bangalore on Friday night via IndiGo airlines was arrested upon landing after he allegedly sexually harassed female cabin crew members who came to serve him.

The 51-year-old man from Male’ is accused of verbally sexually harassing three female cabin crews aboard the IndiGo flight, and attempting to touch them inappropriately, as reported by Indian media outlets.

He was arrested after the flight landed Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), after the case was reported to authorities by a manager from IndiGo airlines.

IndiGo has confirmed the incident took place.

The suspect, now remanded in judicial custody, has been charged with assault or use of criminal force on a woman and carrying out a gesture or act intended to imply such under the Indian Penal Code.
