Main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s party centre in GDh. Hoadedhdhoo was vandalized on Monday night using crude oil.
Photos circulating on social media show all the walls of the party centre, alongside the tables and chairs inside, drenched in crude oil.
Talking to Sun regarding the incident, Hoadedhoo Council President Hussain Warish said no damage was done to the party centre apart from throwing crude oil everywhere.
However, he noted that some of the campaign posters in the jetty area were purposefully damaged.
The case has been submitted to the police as of present, Warish said.
Police said that the case was reported to the authority at approximately 6:00am this morning. Noting they have launched an investigation, Police confirmed no arrests have been so far in connection to the vandalism.
The incident comes after MDP’s party centre in Madaveli, where a campaign rally of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was set to take place, was torched and vandalized ahead of the rally.
