All MPs on provisional list of land recipients make final list

All parliamentarians who were in the provisional list of land recipients under the government’s ‘Binveriya’ scheme, were also included on the final list released on Monday morning.

Ten incumbent parliamentarians were included provisional list released on June 26^th. All ten of them were included on the final list, publicized by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure this morning.

The ten members include four members from the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), four members from The Democrats and one member from Maldives National Party (MNP).

They are;

• MP for Addu Meedhoo constituency Rozaina Adam and MP for Kinbidhoo constituency Mohamed Nazish; spouses who applied jointly
• MP for West Henveiru constituency Hassan Latheef
• MP for Central Maafanu constituency Ibrahim Rasheed
• MP for North Maafannu constituency Imthiyaz Fahumy
• MP for West Maafannu constituency Mohamed Falaah
• MP for South Machangoalhi constituency Ahmed Haitham
• MP for North Machanoalhi constituency Mohamed Rasheed
• MP for North Henveiru constituency Ibrahim Muizzu
• MP for Vilimale’ constituency Ahmed Usham

Apart from MP Muizzu, all other parliamentarians were applicants of a joint application.

Notably, the number of people deemed eligible for land had increased by a silver in the final list. While the provisional list stated 19,858 people as eligible, the final list states 19,865 people as eligible.

Housing Ministry, in a press conference held last night, said 18,955 people will be awarded land from presently allocated areas under the scheme. The remaining 684 people - mostly individuals under the age of 25, who are single and without children – will be awarded plots from additional land to be allocated for issuance under this scheme.
