President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will get elected for a second term in office and re-write Maldives’ history, says Dr. Aishath Rafiyya, the deputy leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), which is aligned with the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

In a campaign rally in GDh. Gadhdhoo on Tuesday night, Rafiyya expressed confidence President Solih will make history by becoming the only leader to face re-election with a coalition.

“In Sha Allah, this president will re-write Maldivian history. He will win re-election and swear-in for a second term. Have no fear,” she said.

She praised President Solih for running development projects in islands across Maldives, even those with small populations.

“This president, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has considered the welfare of islands, small and big, to the extent that no other president before him has,” she said.

Rafiyya said that the people of Gadhdhoo, along with the rest of the Maldivian people, were eagerly awaiting September 9, when they can vote for the president.

She said that the people of Huvadhoo Atoll were “no ordinary people.”

“So, what are we here for? To elect Ibu in one round!” she said.
