Siyam: President Solih is a visionary leader who can double Maldives’ economy

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is the only visionary leader who can utilize loans and double the Maldivian economy, states Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, the leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), which has partnered with the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to support the president’s re-election.

Addressing a campaign rally in Sh. Milandhoo on Monday, Siyam, who also serves as a parliamentary representative for Dh. Meedhoo, said that the people in President Solih’s administration are well-versed in economics.

Siyam recalled how he grew his own business from USD 900 to USD 2 billion in 25 years.

He said that it proves how assets can be doubled and tripled, and how profit can be generated from nothing.

Siyam said it just requires a visionary mind to get it done.

“What I’m saying it the economy can be doubled. It can be multiplied. It can be done. Here’s the proof,” he said.

Siyam said that President Solih had proven himself to be a visionary leader, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that the decision the president took when it seemed like the Maldivian tourism industry had been closed for good, is the reason why the Maldivian people are able to live their lives today.

Siyam said that loans were necessary to run development projects, and that even the United States, believed to be the world’s most develop nation, is also taking loans.

“How are we to make ends meet on what we make? We cannot, yet,” he said.

He said that the development projects in Milandhoo, as well as other islands, are a result of loans.

Siyam said that the development during President Solih’s current term is a result of establishment of peace and stability. He said that it was important for the people to remain united in the days to come.
