Much-awaited Independence Day carnival kicks off

The much-awaited Independence Day carnival ‘Minivan Ufaa’ has kicked off at the Central Park in Hulhumale’.

The carnival, organized by the Home Ministry and Urbanco, was opened by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Saturday night.

They were greeted upon arrival at the Central Park by Home Minister Imran Abdulla and his spouse.

Following the inauguration of the carnival, the first couple toured the various attractions, including sports and game stalls.

They also enjoyed stage performances, a drone show, and a fireworks display.

They were joined by Vice President Faisal Naseem, cabinet ministers, other top government officials, and members of the public.

The ‘Minivan Ufaa’ carnival will be open until Thursday, August 3.

The carnival offers game stalls, a house of horror, a food street with multiple vendors, floats, as well as a circus show with outside talent, live music, and a karaoke box.

Urbanco says the carnival offers activities that people of all ages can enjoy.

The entire Central Park has been decorated with fairy lights for the carnival.
