Three injured in Dhuvaafaru boat fire

Three people sustained burn injuries on Saturday, in a fire on a boat used to catch sea cucumbers in R. Dhuvaafaru.

The exact cause of the fire is unclear.

The three people injured in the fire were initially treated at the Dhuvaafaru Health Center, before getting transferred to the regional hospital in Ungoofaaru.

A spokesperson from the hospital said that one of the patients is in critical condition, with burns to 25 percent of his body.

“One of them is in critical condition. He sustained burns to 25 percent of his body. The other two have burns in five to 10 percent of their bodies,” said the spokesperson.

All three are being treated at the hospital’s ward.
