Jumhoory Party (JP)’s leader and presidential candidate Qasim Ibrahim has launched a door-to-door campaign event in Male’ City.
JP, which is already holding door-to-door campaign events in the atolls, launched door-to-door campaigns in Male’ City and suburban Vilimale’ on Saturday.
The party had recently run similar activities in Hulhumale’.
In a ceremony at the JP headquarters to launch the door-to-door campaign in Male’, Qasim’s adviser, former Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik said teams have been divided to 55 areas for the door-to-door campaign.
Nihan said that JP has consistently been involved in governments that have come after Maldives welcomed the multi-party system.
He said that if elected to office, JP will become the biggest party in Maldives.
“I don’t believe anyone, save for a few, will have a personal grudge against Qasim. This is something I say based on my political experience,” he said.
JP presented Qasim with its presidential ticket on June 10.
In addition to Qasim, Maldives National Party (MNP)’s leader and presidential candidate Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim has also begun door-to-door campaign activities in Male’ and the atolls.
Meanwhile, The Democrats has announced plans to told its presidential primary “soon.”
All three parties had agreed last week to back a common candidate. However, the parties have yet to announce who the candidate will be.
