Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has unveiled a new company logo and color after rebranding.

The new company logo and color were officially unveiled during Annual Staff Night held last night at Henveiru Stadium.

This marks the first time the company had rebranded in the 36-year of its entirety. Operated first under the name Maldives Ports Authority (MPA), the company renamed to MPL in 2008 after corporatization as a 100 percent state-owned company. Nevertheless, the company had been using the logo it had, during its time as MPA.

Speaking after launching the new logo, MPL’s CEO Shahid Ali said the rebranding was part of a greater plan of modernizing the company. He noted strides achieved in the provision of port services including the digitalization of a significant number of services provided by the company.

“Nevertheless, no work on rebranding the company’s brand image has been undertaken previously. The company’s brand image must also be modern while it undertakes modern port services in a corporate arena,” he said.

Speaking further, Shahid said many efforts have been undertaken in the past four years to improve the operations of the company and its corporate governance.

He cited the most important change brought under MPL’s rebranding as the introduction of uniforms specific to different fields of ports operation. On this note, he said the new uniforms eliminate the need for port operations staff to wear separate vests - a step in the path of modern ports – while the uniforms have been integrated with high visibility features.
