President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Thursday night, stated his biggest priority in a second presidential term will be to facilitate opportunities for later-generation youths to advance in the political field.
Speaking at a campaign rally held at K. Maafushi as part of his ongoing campaign tour of Guraidhoo constituency – President Solih emphasized on the importance of providing youths with the opportunity to have a say in matters of national concern.
“The biggest priority in my next term will be to open paths for the new youths, the new generation. To provide more opportunities than at present available to have a say and partake in matters related to the Maldives,” he said.
President Solih, underscoring seeing happiness across Maafushi, said that this happiness can only be attained when peace and order have been established.
“The first thing this government had to do upon assuming office was to eliminate the chaos across the Maldives and establish order,” he added.

Speaking further, President Solih described Maldivians as work-oriented people – adding what is needed is space and resources to efficiently work.
He cited this as the reason why establishing basic services had been his priority after first assuming office.
“Hopefully, by the end of this term, the establishment of water and sewerage service across the nation will be complete,” he added.
President Solih said that he has been fulfilling his electoral pledges despite the obstructions thrown in the way. In this trajectory, he said 90 percent of electoral pledges have been fulfilled on a national scale, while work is underway in line with some of the remaining pledges.
He noted that a majority of his electoral pledges for Maafushi have been fulfilled, while work is underway on the few remaining ones.
He exampled some of these works as upgrading Maafushi harbor and health centre.
