6 injured in speedboat battery explosion

Battery explosion of a speedboat that was travelling from R.Ungoofaaru to Male’ City injured six people.

An official from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) who spoke with Sun said that they received reports of an explosion at around 1600hrs on a speedboat named ‘Crystal Speed’.

The official went on to note that there a total of 39 people in the vessel at the time of the incident, and said that the six people were injured to various degrees.

Furthermore, the official said that no further details about those aboard were received and that a vessel from Maldives Coastguard has departed to assist them.

Meanwhile a person who was on the speedboat said to Sun that two batteries exploded and that 10 were injured due to it.
