Maldives Immigration on Tuesday announced extending passport service hours from Wednesday, July 5 onwards.

Controller General (CG) of Immigration Maldives Mohamed Ahmd Hussain (Hanafee) tweeted announcing the extension of hours as well as certain eases to be provided.

Currently, passport applications have to be submitted via Immigration’s ‘Imugaa’ portal. However, difficulties with that have been identified, and certain eases are to be provided in services accordingly.

As passport services are high in demand, Immigration has brought in four main changes in order to provide fast and easier services.

-        No longer requiring to upload a scanned version of completed form

-        No longer requiring to provide old passport and NID copies

-        Allowing digital signatures and photos

-        Can log in via E-Faas

With these new changes, an application for passport can be submitted without an application. Moreover, digital signatures, or a signature made on a white sheet of paper that is clearly visible can also be uploaded.

As per the changes brought to the timings, instead of only providing services during office hours, it would be done at two different sessions.

From Wednesday onwards, passport services will be available from 0800 hrs till 2100 hrs. But the passport release timings are from 0830 hrs to 1200hrs and resuming at 1245 hrs to 1700hrs.

Immigration noted that their intentions are always to find ways to provide easier ways to serve the public.
