Chinese Ambassador to Maldives to sponsor 10 MNU students under bursary program

The Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin is set to sponsor 10 students from the Maldives National University (MNU) for a bursary program; which will provide the students with financial assistance to cover their educational costs.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with respect to the bursary program was signed on Wednesday during a special ceremony held at MNU by Ambassador Wang and MNU’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shareef.

As part of this agreement, Ambassador Wang will be awarding MVR 10,000 per year as financial assistance for 10 selected students enrolled in MNU.

Speaking to Sun regarding the MoU, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shareef said the financial assistance will be awarded to students who are most eligible to receive it.

He expressed hope for the financial assistance to be increased over the coming years.

Dr. Shareef said the financial assistance will also positively contribute to the development of the university and its students.

Applications for the bursary program will open today. To select students for the program, the university will be utilizing its regular policies on awarding scholarships.
