Former national cricket coach sentenced to 53 years in prison for sexual abuse

The former coach of the national cricket team has been sentenced to over 53 years in prison after being found guilty of sexual abuse of multiple students.

Mohamed Asif Ameen Khan, a South African citizen of Pakistani descent, was arrested on October 5, 2019, for the sexual abuse of multiple young female cricketers.

The Criminal Court on Friday found him guilty on seven out of nine charges, including three counts of sexual abuse, and two counts of sexual abuse of a minor he holds a position of authority over.

The court sentenced him to 53 years, two months and seven days in prison for the charges.

Khan was appointed the coach of the men’s and women’s national cricket teams in 2018.
