Hospital: Condition of nurse injured in gas cylinder blast improving

Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.

Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, on Thursday, reported improvements in the condition of the nurse injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a home in R. Maduvvari.

The incident which took place on Tuesday resulted in injuries to a 36-year-old female nurse from India employed at Maduvvari Heath Centre.

A local told Sun that the nurse had turned off the cooker after preparing a meal before she went to work on Tuesday.

“She went back home after her shift ended at 11:30 pm and turned on the cooker. There was a gas leak,” said the local.

She was initially treated at Maduvvari Health Centre before being transported to Ungoofaru Regional Hospital on the same night.

Ungoofaru Regional Hospital’s Spokesperson told Sun on Thursday that her condition was improving She sustained burns to 42 percent of her body.

The ceiling of the kitchen had collapsed in the incident.
