MTCC completes Kinolhas harbor project

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the project to develop the harbor of R. Kinolhas.

Under the project, MTCC dredged a 31,726 cubic meter area for the new harbor basin, dredged a 15,252 cubic meter area for old harbor basin, dredged a 1,920 cubic meter area for the channel, and dredged an additional 6,100 cubic meters for anchorage area.

The company also built a 186-meter quay wall, repaired a 172.30-meter area of the old quay wall, built a 65-meter revetment, built a 130-meter groyne, installed 1,884 square meters of harbor pavement, constructed a jetty, installed beacons, mooring blocks and ramps.

The project is valued at MVR 46.55 million.

Kinolhas is an island of some 670 people. The main source of income in the island is fishing and farming.
