Bougainvillea fire: One room burned beyond use

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) reports that one room was burned beyond use in the fire which broke out at Bougainvillea, a home in Mahchangoalhi district of Male’ City.

The fire was reported to authorities at approximately 11:29pm on Saturday night.

MNDF’s Fire and Rescue team controlled the fire which broke out at the second floor of the home shortly afterward. Nevertheless, the authority said one room had been burned beyond use in the fire including items that were in the room at the time of the fire.

No one sustained any injuries in the fire.

A resident of Bougainvillea told Sun that the apartment comprised of two rooms of which the fire ignited in one room. The resident said the room was vacant at the time of the fire.

Bougainvillea is Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail’s family home.
