Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer, on Monday, revealed that final preparations in order to open construction of the new building of Alifu Alifu Atoll Hospital for tender are presently underway.
At Monday’s parliamentary sitting, Thoddoo MP Hassan Shiyan inquired from the minister when the new building of AA. Atoll Hospital will be awarded to a contractor. The parliamentarian also questioned the minister on whether funds for the project have been secured and what services will be available at the hospital at the conclusion of the project.
Responding to the question – Minister Ameer said that the new wing of AA. Atoll Hospital will be developed under a loan withdrawn from Kuwait Fund. He detailed that final preparations were underway at present in order to open the project for tender. Noting the hospital will have a capacity of 50 beds – the Minister said that all services slated by the Health Ministry for a hospital of such caliber will be available at the conclusion of the project.
Minister Ameer also noted that seven additional hospitals financed via Kuwait Fund were presently in the tender process. He added that the projects would be awarded to contractors within the first week of next month.
