The President of Care Society’s Board Ismail Adhuham has announced plans to expand its services to Kulhudhuffushi City.
Speaking regarding Care Society’s 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) where many important decisions had been taken – Adhuham said efforts were underway to commence Care Society’s services in both northern and southern Maldives.
“We are targeting to establish a center to provide Care Society’s services in HDh. Kulhudhufushi, whether be it in collaboration with a party affiliated with us, by will of God, within this year,” he said.
In addition to this, efforts are also underway to launch Care Society’s services in Hulhumale’ this August. On this note, Adhuham underscored a location was being prepared at Hulhumale’ Phase II through Housing Development Corporation’s (HDC) assistance – where services are expected to commence for during the early half of August.
Services provided at the location will include intervention therapy for children and vocational education.
During the 24th AGM – the Articles of Association of Care Society was amended while last year’s Annual Report and Audit Report were passed. Additionally, individuals were elected for vacant posts in the Steering Committee of the society.
Moreover, individuals, companies and organizations that had provided assistance to Care Society were recognized and presented with certificates during the AGM.
Adhuham said that Care Society is targeting to structure its services into main three areas. He stated that the most important area of the three would be early diagnosis of disabilities in children and the provision of early intervention services.
While the second is vocational education in order to pave path for children with disabilities completing their education to earn an income – the third is therapy and rehabilitation programs.
As Care Society is set to mark its 25th anniversary this year – many celebratory events have also been planned in conjunction.
In this regard, a stakeholder forum is in the pipeline in order to draft Care Society’s new strategic plan.
Incepted in 1998, Care Society is a non-governmental organization with the purpose of serving persons with disabilities in the Maldives and providing an open forum in the community in which people with disabilities could participate, contribute to and benefit from.
