Police have made a second arrest in connection to the vandalism of Juice Time, a café in suburban Hulhumale’.
The suspect, identified as a 28-year-old Maldivian male, was arrested under court order on Monday.
The second arrest comes after a 19-year-old Maldivian male, who the police believe to have been actively involved in the crime, was arrested under court order Sunday.
He has been remanded in custody of the police for 15 days.
The attack on Juice Time had taken place on February 17.
CCTV footage shows two men wearing helmets and facemasks arrive on a motorbike and shatter the glass windows of the café with hammers, and then enter the café and destroy additional items at the café.
The cashier had immediately escaped, while the two men had fled the scene after causing the damage.
The police had found the motorbike used in the crime on February 24.
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed confirmed in a prior interview to the press that the incident had been sparked by a dispute between two rival gangs.
