One has been reported dead while three were seriously injured after being slammed by a palm tree amid moving palm trees on an excavator at Th. Burunee.
The incident took place between 4:30pm and 5:00pm on Sunday evening.
Burunee Council’s Vice President Ahmed Saddam told Sun on Sunday night the incident took place amid moving palm trees uprooted from a house.
“While moving the palm trees to one side, one of the palm trees broke loose and slammed into those nearby. All hit were persons present at the work site,” he said.
Saddam said while one passed away in the incident – three more, who were seriously injured, are currently being treated at Dhaalu Atoll Hospital. All four victims have been identified as expatriates.
Although three injured have reportedly sustained serious injuries, the extent of their injuries remains unclear at the moment.
