Lawyers who passed Maldives’ first bar exam admitted to the bar

The examinees who passed Maldives’ first bar licensing exam have been admitted to the bar.

The lawyers were administered their oath by High Court Judge Hussain Mazeed during the bar admissions ceremony held Monday.

Total 73 lawyers took their oath Monday.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of five awards. They were:

  • Top Achiever’s Award
  • Institutional Service Award
  • Excellence Award
  • Extraordinary Service Award
  • Service Appreciation Award

The first Bar licensing exam to be administered in the history of the Maldivian legal profession was held on November 19, 2022. According to the Bar Council, 68 percent of the examinees who sat the inaugural Bar Exam, and were all first-time test takers, passed the exam.

The average mark attained by examinees was 66 percent.
