The Parliament has opened a gym in its premises to promote physical fitness among parliamentarians and staffers.
The gym was inaugurated by Speaker Mohamed Nasheed on Wednesday.
Following the inauguration, he, accompanied by several MPs, toured the gym and inquired about the facilities.
The gym, located on the 12th floor of the Parliament’s new building, was financed with a grant from the Pakistani government.
The gym is currently open only to MPs and the Parliament’s staff.
The gym is part of a larger project to develop facilities at the Parliament, including a restaurant and retail outlet.
