Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will begin charging customers for the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) electric bus service in Vilimale’ on Friday.
The RTL Vilimale’ bus service was launched on January 20. The service was free the first two weeks.
Customers will be charged MVR 5 for the service starting Friday.
Customers have three payment options available to them; QR tickets via RTL mobile app or website, contactless payment via Mastercard or Visa card, and cash payments for paper ticket.
MTCC said that paper tickets are currently available only from the buses. The company advised customers to bring exact change for tickets.
The bus service will remain people for people above the age of 65, children under the age of three, and people with disabilities.
MTCC is using six electric buses for its bus service in Vilimale’. With 11 seats and space for four more people to travel on the bus standing up, the buses accommodate 15 people.
The RTL Vilimale’ bus service is available 24/7.
