Tailor accused of assaulting young girl walks free

The Criminal Court on Tuesday acquitted a tailor accused of groping the breasts of a young girl who wanted to get a dress refitted.

The incident took place at around 02:30 pm on September 13, 2020, at the young girl’s residence.

According to the prosecution, the tailor, a Bangladeshi man, was brought to the girl’s residence to take in the side seams of a dress. He claimed he needed to take her measurements to take in the side seams, and proceeded to grope her breasts while taking the measurements.

He was charged will unlawful sexual contact with the minor.

He pled “not guilty” to the charge.

The Criminal Court issued its ruling in the case Tuesday. He was acquitted due to lack of evidence.

The case details weren’t disclosed by the court as it involves a child victim.
