Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) revealed that former president Mohamed Nasheed’s submissions on ensuring the legitimacy of votes were sent in past the given deadline.
Nasheed who is running for the party’s primary made 20 suggestions according to MDP.
As the primary slated for January 28 draws close, Nasheed has been aiming numerous accusations at his opponent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Some of this include major accusations such as claiming his opponents of giving out bribes and using the influence to sway the election.
During a press meeting held by MDP’s election committee talking about the election, they noted that Nasheed’s submissions were received past deadline.
“We received that letter around 2143hrs last night (January 25). By then all the lists were already dispatched. So, we are now noting things such as the things already done and that is yet to be done,” said Ibrahim Waheed, the Deputy Chairperson and the lead on the committee looking into the complaints.
He also said that the submissions were the same as those sent at the time of the election for party’s Chairperson, and that had they been made with good intention, it would have been sent earlier than that.
