The Criminal Court closed 1,096 cases last year, according to the annual statistics released by the court.
Total 786 cases were filed with the court in 2022, the highest number of which was filed in June with 113 cases.
June also saw the highest case closures, with 165 cases.
The Criminal Court had scheduled 12,757 cases in 2022. However, only 59 percent of the hearings were held as scheduled, while 41 percent were cancelled.
The court received 4,126 petitions requesting court orders and decisions on remand.
The court issued court orders in response to 1,795 petitions, and made decisions on remand in response to 2,331 petitions.
The highest number of case closures, as well as the highest number of cases filed in the last five years, had been in 2019.
