Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded projects to upgrade harbors in two islands of N. Atoll; Velidhoo and Lhohi.
The contracts were signed by Planning Ministry’s Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq and MTCC’s General Manager Shifau Ali in a ceremony at the Planning Ministry headquarters in Male’ City on Thursday.
The project to upgrade the harbor in Velidhoo is valued at MVR 50 million.
The scope of the project includes harbor basin dredging operations of 67,020 cubic meters, new harbor basin dredging operations of 19,513 cubic meters, and channel dredging operations of 2,414 cubic meters.
MTCC is required to complete the project in 500 days.
Meanwhile, the project to upgrade the harbor in Lhohi is valued at MVR 68 million.
The scope of the project includes harbor basin dredging operations of 66,701 cubic meters, and channel dredging operations of 2,205 cubic meters.
MTCC is required to complete the project in 640 days.
MTCC was also awarded an additional project to protect the coast of GA. Dhevvadhoo.
The project is valued at MVR 24 million.
The scope of the project includes installing 120-meter rock boulder revetments in north, east and south of Dhevvadhoo, and construction of 11 440-meter Y-shaped groynes.
MTCC is required to complete the project in 210 days.
