Finance Ministry has reissued the invitation for bids for the construction of 30-bed hospitals in seven islands.
The invitation for bids was originally posted by the Finance Ministry back in April. The Finance Ministry reposted the invitation for bids again on Tuesday, after the original invitation failed to secure enough bids.
Finance Ministry has instructed interested parties to clarify information by January 5.
The seven islands where the hospitals will be built are; HDh. Hanimaadhoo, Sh. Milandhoo, N. Velidhoo, K. Thulusdhoo, ADh. Maamigili, V. Felidhoo, and Th. Vilufushi.
The construction of the hospitals will be financed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).
The bid security for each project is USD 35,000 or its equivalent in MVR.
Interested parties have been instructed to submit their bids before 01:00 pm on June 9.
Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has also stated that an invitation for bids will also be issued for the development of hospitals in GDh. Thinadhoo, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City and AA. Rasdhoo once the design work is complete.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, in his annual address back in February, announced plans to commence construction of 12 new hospitals in Maldives this year.
“The next step is improving and strengthening these developments. Construction work of hospitals comprising 100 beds will begin in Kulhudhuffushi, L. Gan and GDh. Thinadhoo. In addition to this, construction of seven 50-bed atoll hospitals and hospitals comprising 30 beds in 12 other islands will begin this year,” he said.
