Island Aviation: New flights will arrive in January

A 72-600 aircraft of Maldivian.

Island Aviation – operation of the national airline ‘Maldivian’ revealed that the new flights to be used for internal flights will arrive in Maldives during January 2023.

According to the company, three new flights will be brought from aircraft manufacturer ATR.

In a tweet by ATR, this will be the first ATR72-600 to be provided for Maldivian.

Furthermore, it was also noted that the aircraft will be “equipped with the new PW127XT engine”.

Giving more information about this, the Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Aishath Jennifer said they were very hopeful for the new 72-600 aircraft to arrive on Wednesday.

Island Aviation has placed an order for two 72-600 crafts, and one 42-600 aircraft.

A 42-600 aircraft can accommodate 50 people, while a 72-600 aircraft can carry 74 people at a time.

With the additional flights, the company is positive the technical delays currently faced will be eliminated. They also hope this will ease carrying tourists from Velana International Airport (VIA) of different parts of the country during this peak season.

 

At the moment, Island Aviation has two crafts dedicated to international flights, and 10 for internal ones.
