First Couple returns to Maldives after trip to Qatar for World Cup semis

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on Thursday afternoon, returned to the Maldives after concluding an official visit to Qatar to view the semifinal matches in the going FIFA World Cup 2022.

They undertook the visit at the invitation of the Qatari Amir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

During this visit, President Solih met with the Managing Director and CEO of the Ooredoo Group, Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo and the senior management of the company – during which he underscored the essential role played by Ooredoo Maldives, the subsidiary of Ooredoo Group which is one of Maldives’ largest telecom companies, in strengthening technological cooperation and the overall development partnership between the Maldives and Qatar.

The President’s Office described the visit as a symbol of the close bilateral relations between Maldives and Qatar.
