40-day remand extension for 3 arrested in counterfeit USD scheme

The Criminal Court has extended the remand of three youths arrested for conducting business transactions using counterfeit US dollars by 40 days.

The three were arrested on November 23.

They are:

• Hussain Zaidhan Ali, 23, Iramaage, S. Hulhudhoo
• Shafra Abdulla Adam, 24, Dhilaavaruge, GDh. Gadhdhoo
• Abdulla Nasheel, 23, Seawave, S. Hulhudhoo

The three were arrested from Hulhumale’ in a joint operation run by the Economic Crime Department and Police Intelligence.

The Criminal Court had initially extended their remand by five days. Their remand was extended by 40 days when presented before the court for their second remand hearing Tuesday.
