Met Office: Weather expected to improve in Male’ area by Tuesday, rain expected in atolls

National weather forecasting body of Maldives, Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office), on Friday, stated that weather is expected to improve in the Male’ area by next Tuesday.

Nevertheless, they have forecasted rain in atolls, especially in the southern region. Meanwhile, northern region is expected to see a slight improvement in the weather.

“Not forecasting an improvement in weather across the whole country at an earlier date,” the office added.

Met Office is expecting heavy rain across the Maldives over the next 24 hours.

They also warned of rough seas, therewith, have urged seafarers to exercise caution during travel.

Met Office declared the onset of the prevailing year’s southwest monsoon (wet season) in the Maldives on May 8. The Maldives has seen unusually more rain this year in the southwest monsoon, comparatively to recent years.

The northwest monsoon (dry season) is expected to commence in early December.
