United Nations’ (UN) office in the Maldives is scheduled to hold a public event on Friday to mark the 77th United Nations Day.
UN Day is marked annually on October 24, to raise awareness of the goals and achievements of the organization and to gain support for their work. The specific date was chosen as it marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter.
The day is being celebrated in the Maldives on Friday.
The public event scheduled, as part of this, will be held from 4:30pm to 7:00pm at Dharubaaruge, Rannabandeyri Maalam.
It is set to have 16 stalls showcasing the culture and diversity of countries, and the work of the UN, with fun activities for kids, information, and giveaways.
The event is being held in partnership with the Foreign Ministry and Embassies and High Commissions of Bangladesh, China, India, Japan, Maldives, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and the UK and UN agencies in the Maldives.
The UN office in the Maldives invites all to attend the event.
