Safe drinking water system set up at Bodufolhudhoo School through BML Community Fund

A safe drinking water system has been set up at AA. Bodufolhudhoo School for students and teachers with the support of Bank of Maldives’ (BML) Community Fund.

The Bank said that the aim the project is to provide safe drinking water for students and staff of the school and to eliminate single use plastic bottles. In this regard, an industrial RO machines, and two water dispensers has been placed at the school. 

Musthafa Ahmed, speaking on behalf of Revolutionary Bodufolhudhoo Generation, the NGO which submitted the proposal for the project, said that it will benefit 186 students, teachers, staff and those visiting the school with easy access to safe drinking water.

“We hope this project will change the way people think to support a more sustainable environment,” he added.

Reusable bottles were donated all students and staff by Revolutionary Bodufolhudhoo Generation as part of the project – pledging to reduce single use plastic and adopt to environmentally friendly measures. To ensure the project is a successful and sustainable one, the organization will also do routine checks and maintenance on the machine, filters and water dispensers.

BML’s Community Fund is a program that aims to empower individuals and NGOs to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects on themes such as environment, sports, and education.
