AMIN Construction fails to complete police flats by deadline

Subsequent to AMIN Construction’s failure to complete the housing units under development for police personnel in suburban Hulhumale’ under the timeframe agreed – the deadline to complete the project has, once again, been extended.

The project had been contracted to Police Corporative Society (POLCO) back in 2012. Housing Ministry took over the project, contracting it to AMIN Construction for MVR 250 million in December last year to be completed within 240 days.

The timeframe stipulated under the agreement expired on Tuesday, despite which the project remained incomplete. An official from Planning Ministry confirmed to Sun on Wednesday, their decision to extend the deadline.

However, the official did not disclose how many days the deadline will be extended by.

Planning Ministry, in an earlier statement, had said that the project had previously been a “mess”.

In this regard, the Ministry said the project also involved a subcontractor tasked with networking and other related work. They said that the work was getting delayed, and that as things currently stood, the flats may not be complete by September.

Back then, the Ministry said project would likely take two more months.
