Dr. Abdulla Waheed, an individual who significantly contributed to the Maldives’ health sector and served in the government for a lengthy period of time, has passed away on Tuesday.
Waheed passed away on late Tuesday morning, whilst being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). He was 65.
Waheed who worked as a surgeon also held many senior posts in the health sector – including the post of State Minister for Health during last administration and IGMH’s Director General of Health Service.
He also served as the president of Police Integrity Commission.
Apart from this, Waheed was a writer. Whilst he wrote for some newspapers, he also had a personal blog where he published health and historical articles.
