Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has hired 18 youth who successfully completed the company’s apprenticeship program.
Under its apprenticeship program, MPL trained youth in carpentry, welding, tug boat operation, health and safety, administration, and engineering.
20 had applied for the 45 apprenticeship spots opened in March.
The 18 apprentices hired by MPL were presented with their letter of appointment in a ceremony at the Maldives National University (MNU) on Sunday. They were presented with their letter of appointment by Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof.
MPL states it aims to train 3,000 youth each year under its apprenticeship program.
