Weekly Covid update: Cases remain low

Statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, show that COVID-19 cases in the Maldives remain relatively low in the past week.

A total of 99 cases were reported in Maldives in the one-week period from August 14 to August 20. Meanwhile, 98 cases were reported had been reported the week before.

The 99 new cases last week include 16 cases from the greater Male’ region, 35 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 48 cases from other areas such as resorts and industrial islands.

Nine new hospital admissions were recorded last week, an increase compared to the six new hospital admissions recorded the week before.

No deaths were recorded last week.

With 99 new cases last week – Maldives now has 184,788 confirmed cases. 307 people have died from complications.
