Parliament reopens for year’s last session with 43 MPs

The Parliament reopened for the fourth and last session of the year on Thursday with 43 out of 87 parliamentarians in attendance.

Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday 30 bills will be submitted by the government during the session.

Opening the first sitting of the session on Thursday morning, Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed said the Parliament had received the list of 30 government bills which will be submitted during the session.

The Parliament questioned Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam in the morning, and is set to hear committee reports on ambassadors nominated for United States, Malaysia, and India, and send the request for parliamentary approval for non-residential ambassadors to six countries to committee for review.

The session will conclude in November.
