Maldives, in July, saw 4,400 daily tourist arrivals on an average so far into the month.
Statistics released by Tourism Ministry shows that the average daily tourist arrival rate stood at 4,179 before the pandemic, in July 2019. Therewith, the average daily tourist arrival so far this July, has been higher than in July 2019.
So far this month, Maldives has recorded 79,749 total tourist arrivals. The number of tourists arrivals during the same period in 2019 stood at 75,213. This marks a 4.8 percent decrease this year compared to 2019.
The total number of tourist arrivals so far this year is at 892,960. This number was much higher in July 2019 – being 937,802.
India makes up the largest tourist market to the Maldives so far this year – sharing 14.7 percent of the total tourist arrivals. Second largest market, sharing 11.7 percent of the total tourist arrivals, is UK.
Despite the drop in the Russian market due to the Russia-Ukraine war – number of arrivals from Russia have begun increasing as well. Subsequently, Russia is now the third largest market, sharing 10.7 percent of the total tourist arrivals. The Russian market had dropped to 9th place during the slump period.
An average stay of a tourist in the Maldives is currently at 8.1 days. The number stood at nine at the start of this year, and saw a drop to 7.2 days in May.
