Local writers’ association Liyuntheringe Gulhun has opened application for a story writing competition.
Liyuntheringe Gulhun’s vice president Hassan Shakir Mohamed noted the lack of Dhivehi language stories targeting young adults. He said the purpose of the competition was to create content targeting the age category.
“The purpose is to create stories based on Maldivian culture and traditions, and is interesting to the youth,” he said.
Shakir said that writers who submit forms to enter the competition will receive an invitation for a meeting.
“We will explain the rules of the competition during this meeting. Interested writers can also register,” he said.
The deadline for submission of forms is August 10.
The competition is open for all Maldivians above the age of 18 years.
The winner will receive a cash prize of MVR 25,000, while the runner-up will receive MVR 15,000 and the second runner-up will receive MVR 10,000.
The winning stories will also be published by Liyuntheringe Gulhun.
