Police: No criminal investigation underway against PG Shameem

Maldives Police Service, on Friday, has stated that no criminal investigation is underway against Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem.

The statement from Police comes after a local online media had reported that the authority was investigating PG Shameem for the sexual assault of a minor.

As per the media, the case was submitted to Maldives Police Service on last week’s Monday. They cited the source of their information as a government official.

Nevertheless, Police have denied that PG Shameem is under investigation with respect to any criminal case.

However, no further details have been disclosed by the Police.
